Ey ‘up Amy!
October's arrived, and it's not messing about. Storm Amy's due to sweep through on Friday and Saturday, so batten down the hatches if you need to. But by Tuesday night, if the clouds clear, there's a Harvest Supermoon worth looking up for, the first supermoon of 2025.
Whether you're out chasing moonlight, sheltering from the storm, or simply enjoying the beauty of autumn from your window, remember: the best stories unfold when we step away from our screens and immerse ourselves in the season.

National Poetry Day
It's National Poetry Day, and Yorkshire's given the world more than its fair share of poets - Ted Hughes, Simon Armitage, the Brontës, W.H. Auden. What's your favourite poem about Yorkshire, or by a Yorkshire writer?
Here's one of mine by John Hartley, the Halifax clockmaker and dialect poet who captured everyday Yorkshire life in the 1800s:
Come, Away wi’ Me!
by John Hartley
Come, away wi’ me, lass,
Where t’ wild flowers grow,
Where t’ sunshine smiles brightest,
An’ warm breezes blow.
We’ll wander through valleys,
Where t’ brook runs so clear,
An’ all cares ‘at oppress us
Shall vanish i’ th’ air.

John Hartley (1839–1915)
